I have found on my search the Dashware software. It shows me that I still have a lot to learn, good for me. I have read the link to GPS cited in the previous post. I am also relatively new with drones, themselves being relatively new! But I have been around for a while in video.
Thank you very much Weston for this prompt and detailed response. A lot of data quality and reliability headaches disappear when you switch to a good external GPS, and the recorded data is more precise and accurate, so you can do finer driving line analysis, more with statistics, etc. Some more information is given here: Īlthough many smartphones can get pretty good accuracy under ideal conditions, that's still only 1 Hz and is very sensitive to signal reception conditions, making it hard to consistently get good data (especially at certain tracks and/or inside a vehicle). TrackAddict supports the XGPS160 and XGPS150 from Dual Electronics on iOS devices, and then Android users have a wider variety of choices that include those, as well as the Qstarz BT-Q818XT (my personal favorite), and others. They typically offer 5 or 10 Hz, and even more importantly, much better and more consistent accuracy, precision, and signal reception. The desire to increase this sampling rate and data quality is where external add-on GPS devices come into play.

The GPS update rate comes from the hardware in your smartphone, which is almost always 1 Hz (once per second).
